Drew Barrymore’s New Favorite Tortilla Chips? La Milpa Tortilla Chips on The Drew Barrymore Show
It’s strange to see our chips on a big TV set. We’re used to being covered in corn, not studio lights, but we’re super glad the secret is out.
When people find a snack they love, they don’t just keep it to themselves, they share it. That’s what happened when Drew Barrymore tried our nixtamal tortilla chips and became a super-fan. On a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Drew and Ross Mathews shared our chips with their audience. Hearing Drew call La Milpa Tortilla Chips her “new favorite tortilla chip" is really nice, because it means the effort we put into every batch is hitting the mark.
“I popped it in my mouth, and I thought, ‘I have got to talk about this chip, I am obsessed with it!’ You’ll taste it and see what I’m talking about.”
Drew Barrymore presents her favorite chip, New York’s La Milpa, on The Drew Barrymore Show.
We’re staying focused on the same quality we’ve always produced here in New York. Whether you’re seeing us on TV or opening a bag at home, you’re getting the same stone-ground, authentic nixtamal chips we've always been proud to share.
Thanks, Drew & Ross. That was really kind :-)

What Makes La Milpa Chips So Special?
Drew’s reaction speaks for itself, but in case you’re wondering what makes our chips different, here’s why they stood out to her:
✔️ Made from real nixtamalized corn. Super authentic flavor.
✔️ Non-GMO, no additives, no preservatives. Pure, clean, and absolutely delicious.
✔️ Perfect for game day… or any day. As Drew says, once you try them, you’ll get it!
The Best Tortilla Chips: As Seen on The Drew Barrymore Show
Since Drew gave our chips her seal of approval, we’ve been getting so many new fans discovering the taste of real nixtamal chips for the first time. If you’re used to bland, mass-produced tortilla chips, get ready for a crunchy revelation.
These aren’t just chips. They’re a connection between old and new traditions, made with real nixtamalized corn for an authentic flavor that’s worlds apart from the usual supermarket brands.
Fun fact: Nixtamalization is the ancient process of soaking corn in an alkaline solution, unlocking richer flavor, better texture, and more nutrients. Most store-bought chips skip this step. We don’t.

Located in Hamilton Heights, OSO brings the cuisine of Mexico City to a Harlem Kitchen.
Our fresh nixtamal tortillas, chips, and masa azul have arrived at Oso restaurant in Harlem.
Fans and residents of bustling Hamilton Heights, Matthew Trebek and Nodar Mosiashvili forged a place where both locals and visitors alike can join to relish in the perks of the neighborhood. Nestled on the top of the hill near the Hamilton Grange Memorial and the City College of New York, Oso draws inspiration from the community’s landmark architecture, bold street style, and rich cultural history.
Executive Chef Cassandra Rhoades created fare in honor of Trebek’s travels to Mexico City, particularly their fondness for street-style cuisine. Along with Sous Chef Stephen Mulkins, the pair devised a highly curated menu of south-of-the border staples for Oso — think: tamales, moles, even nopales — as well as traditional tacos.

Tortilleria La Milpa de Rosa Gambles on Artisanal Corn Tortillas
If you really want to understand what makes us different, you have to read this eye-opening story from Edible Hudson Valley explaining why La Milpa de Rosa thinks bringing real tortilla to New York is worth the struggle. Spoiler: Because it’s delicious. And as Chef Chris Vergara tells writer Julia Sexton:
“Basically, the difference between a fresh, nixtamal tortilla and a Maseca tortilla is like the difference between a freshly baked baguette and a bag of Wonder Bread.”
